JJ is Co-Founder & President of Katana and is involved in all aspects of company operations, strategy and successful client executions. Over the last 15+ years, JJ Bannasch has had leadership positions at multiple agencies, start-ups, and has specialized in media and the convergence of technology, best-in-class digital marketing, and focused on business driven campaign architecture and solutions. His approach, methods and strategies have been proven, validated and refined with multi-million dollar digital media campaigns resulting in high increased ROI for his clients and award-winning marketing efforts.

JJ worked at San Diego based Mindgruve and Geary LSF Group, an international marketing firm heading their media department across multiple offices. During his leadership at Geary, the firm was recognized for excellence in media (three time IAB MIXX awards) and became one of the largest independent search agencies in the United States, ranked 4th by Advertising Age. He has also spearheaded digital engagements ranging from outside agency consulting to SMBs consulting to build internal marketing teams while also working at a handful of agencies at various capacities. In 2014, JJ was named “Media Professional of the Year.”

JJ graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Diego State University and was recognized by numerous honor societies during his time at SDSU.
