Heather Mattingly, our Project Coordinator, is a San Diego native! A graduate in Communications from Cal State San Marcos, she comes to Katana with a background in banking. She served as a member of Ad 2 San Diego for five years. At Katana, her ongoing duties provide immense support across departments for process establishment and tracking. In this installment of Katana’s Staff Spotlight, get to know Heather!
What’s your position and role at Katana?
Project Coordinator, specifically for our Web Development, Sales and Marketing teams.
What are two interesting facts about you?
- I make my bed every morning (my parents did good)
- Solo traveled Europe for a couple months
One thing you couldn’t live without?
Santa Maria breakfast burritos from Waterfront. I don’t have kids, but I imagine that’s what this kind of love feels like.
How do you define success?
I gauge and define it by how many times I failed and how long I struggled to get to a place where I feel confident and happy.
What are your most overused words/phrases?
“Anyone wanna get breakfast burritos?”
What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?
Google Maps. I get lost pretty easily.
If you had to go up against Katana’s Executive Chairman, Andreas Roell, in the World Karaoke Championship, what song would you sing?
Hold On by the Wilson Phillips.
If you could have dinner with anyone dead or alive, who would it be and why?
My grandpa. I’d probably cry the whole time, but it would be lovely to hear his voice again.
What are other organizations outside of Katana that you are involved in?
For a couple years I was Secretary on the Exec Board for Ad 2 San Diego, a junior marketing club of SDX — Great way to gain experience, network, and meet faces within this industry.
